200 m²Karousades is a picturesque village in Corfu that boasts traditional architecture and a fascinating history dated back to the Byzantine Empire. The village was named after the refugees who came to the island from the Greek city of Karoussa on the Black Sea, which was destroyed. Today, the visitor of Karousades is enchanted by the golden-green color of the olive trees and the elegant white houses that line the village road. The Theotokis family settled here in the 15th century, after the fall of Constantinople, and their mansion, built in 1500, is still a well-preserved gem of the village.
Apart from its rich history, Karousades is also home to a philharmonic orchestra established in 1980, which teaches wind and percussion instruments to local students, preserving the tradition of music in the region.
Only 15 kilometers away from the bustling tourist destination of Sidari, Karousades offers a more peaceful alternative. For those seeking for tranquility, the virgin beach of Astrakeri is just a short drive away, with its crystal-clear waters and lush greenery providing a relaxing escape from the crowds. So whether you want to explore the historic village or unwind on a pristine beach, Karousades is ready to fulfil your expectations.
The northern coast of Corfu offers visitors a range of options for a perfect holiday experience. Roda, a small fishing village situated between Acharavi and Sidari, boasts a vast golden sandy beach with deep blue waters, traditional villages to explore, and significant archaeological findings at the Corfu Archaeological Museum. With endless entertainment options such as restaurants, taverns, nightclubs, and bars, Roda is a popular destination for all needs. For a more tranquil beach experience, Astrakeri Beach, located between Roda and Sidari, offers a small sandy beach ideal for families with small children. Visitors can also explore nearby rock formations, Cape Drastis, and sandy beaches like Agios Stefanos-west and Arillas. Together, these two destinations offer a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
